2. Ruturaj Gaikwad
Ruturaj Gaikwad has been in and around the team for more than 15 months now. The Maharashtra cricketer did not have a great start to his career, as he could not establish himself in the chances he got earlier in his career. Earlier this year, Gaikwad was picked as a backup in the WTC final 2023 squad, but had to be replaced by Yashasvi Jaiswal, as he was to get married. Gaikwad and Jaiswal were both picked for the Test series against West Indies. They have been picked against South Africa as well.
Gaikwad has scored truckloads of runs in domestic cricket. In the limited number of opportunities he has got in LOIs till now, Gaikwad has not been that consistent. In the ongoing series against Australia, Gaikwad has been good. But otherwise, he has not played as many memorable innings as he would have liked. Even against West Indies, Gaikwad failed as a batter. The talented batter would be looking forward to changing the things this time around in the tour of South Africa.
