During the 2000s, the Indian Test Team had a great team with the likes of Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman. These four players were known as the “Fab Four” by then as they always looked to provide top-class performance for their teams.

These batters were known for their superb batting abilities across the globe and thus, global fans were there for them. However, there were still some players who did not get the opportunity to represent India on a regular basis despite scoring a lot of runs in the domestic circuit. Hence, these players failed to get into the Team due to the presence of these four players during that timeline. Here are five players who got rejected during the era of the “Fab Four”:

Hrishikesh Kanitkar is a name that can be remembered for his match-winning four runs against Pakistan in the 1998 Independence Cup final. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka while against Australia, he scored a knock of 57 runs also. However, he made his Test debut in Australia where he failed to score big in two matches.

Then, he got axed from the Test setup. But, he continued his form in the domestic arena as he scored a good amount of runs in Ranji seasons. But, he never managed to make a comeback as VVS Laxman was preferred over him during that time. Speaking about his Ranji career, he scored more than 10000 runs at an average of 52.26. Even, though he is the fifth-highest run-getters in Ranji Trophy history.
