MS Dhoni is known as one of the most decorated leaders in the history of Indian cricket. He is the only captain to win all three majors during his tenure for India. He also was the first captain to make India number one in the longest format of the game. Apart from being a great leader, he also contributed to India as an individual batter also.

His contribution as an individual on the field (whether as a batter or keeper) has been instrumental as India won many thrilling games from crunch situations. Over the years, such instances have made MS Dhoni a special player for the country. In some critical situations, he managed to keep calm to finish many games in style for his teams.

Against Pakistan, 2006

MS Dhoni came up with a fantastic knock of 72* runs while chasing a target of 289 runs against Pakistan. In this match, India was struggling by losing five wickets for 190 runs only. But, it was Yuvraj Singh and MS Dhoni’s partnership that ensured India’s victory. Dhoni was in a destructive mood as he scored his fifty in just 35 balls.

Ultimately, he was unbeaten on 72* runs off 46 balls, including 13 fours at a strike rate of 156.52. MS Dhoni was the player in the match. Along with him, Sachin Tendulkar (95 runs) and Yuvraj Singh (79* runs) also contributed to this huge win. In that ODI series, Dhoni scored 219 runs in four innings at an unbelievable average of 219.
