Top players around the globe always look to perform for their respective countries. But, sometimes, they face some rough patches in their career. During those tough times, former cricketers have come up with some criticism over those players.
Former players criticized their playing styles. Even, they raised questions regarding their place in the playing XI despite having such poor form for a long time. Thus, some unwanted incidents have happened over the years between players.
Here are five instances where former cricketers have criticized players for their style of play
Kapil Dev and Virat Kohli
Since 2019, Virat Kohli was failing to score a century for India across all three formats. During the England tour, he tried his best. But, Kohli was unable to lay at his level best. Despite such a poor patch of form, he was getting selected for the playing Xi. It did not go well with Kapil Dev. He said that Kohli should be dropped also like other players if he is out of form.
Kapil Dev said: “Yes, now the situation is such that you might be forced to bench Kohli from T20 playing eleven. If world No. 2 bowler Ashwin can be dropped from the Test side then (once upon a time) world No. 1 batter can also be dropped. He has made a name because of his performances but if he isn’t performing consistently, then you can’t keep the performing youngsters out of the team.”
