FIFA World Cup 2022 is going to begin in Qatar on 20 November. 32 teams will fight out for the prestigious trophy. France will look to defend their title as they won the previous edition in 2018. But, there are several players around the globe who might play this mega tournament for the last time.

All these players have always looked to deliver their best for fans and the country. So, it will be a hard moment for the fans to see them in action for the last time along with the players themselves. Therefore, these players will look to do well this time around if they consider this World Cup as their last one. 

Here are seven players for whom the next World Cup might be the last one

Cristiano Ronaldo

This Portuguese superstar might play his last World Cup in Qatar. Cristiano Ronaldo is already 37 years old, He currently plays for Manchester United in the Premier League. In a recent interview, he said that he has an aim to play in the 2024 Euros. But, the next World Cup in 2026 might be highly unlikely for him.  

Lionel Messi

This footballer from Argentina also might play his last World Cup in 2022. Lionel Messi is already 35 years old. So, it might be impossible for him to play in another World Cup for Argentina. 

Neymar

This Brazilian superstar might play his last World Cup in 2022. However, he has his age with him. Still, Neymar needs to work on his fitness if he wants to play in the next one in 2026.

Luka Modric

This midfield maestro from Croatia is most likely to play his last World Cup in Qatar. Luka Modric started his international career in 2006. Hence, it will be tough for him to stretch it until the next one in 2026.
