‘Aaj raat wo do bje tak piyega’ – Fans troll KL Rahul as he gets demoted in Indian Cricket Board central contract

Former India vice-captain KL Rahul has been demoted from the central contracts of the Indian Cricket Board. He has been demoted from Grade A to B in the fresh contracts released by the board. Over the last few months, Rahul has been struggling with the bat across formats. In Test matches, the right-hander struggled against Bangladesh and the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In the series against Australia, he was dropped from the playing XI after the second game. On the other hand, he won the ODI game against the same side in the recent past. Not to forget, he was dropped from the vice-captaincy in January this year. Meanwhile, in the central contracts released by the board, Rahul’s annual salary has been reduced from five to three crores INR.

For the unversed, players under the Grade A+ earn seven crores annually. ‘A’ players get INR 5 crore, ‘B’ players INR 3 crore, and ‘C’ players INR 1 crore.
