One of the main talks among the cricket fraternity in India at the moment is the Women’s T20 League which is set to launch later in the year. The teams that are set to take part in the competition have been announced and five franchises won the bid. Star Australia wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy revealed which team she would like to play for in the inaugural Women’s T20 League in India.

Healy, one of the superstar batters in white-ball cricket, said it would be nice to play for the Bangalore franchise in the maiden Women’s T20 League season. Incidentally, Healy’s husband, Mitchell Starc, also formerly played for Bangalore in the Indian T20 League. Healy has played 136 T20Is and scored 2,300 runs with 12 fifties and one hundred, and a top score of an unbeaten 148.

Healy was the Player of the Match in the 20-20 World Cup final in 2020 against India for her match-winning knock of 75 off 39 balls. She also has a glittering ODI career with the bat, scoring 2,639 runs in 94 matches, with an average of 36.65.

“It is going to be a very exciting period of 12 months, it’s going to be tough but exciting,” said Healy, who was quoted as saying on India Today. “(On auction) Beggars can’t be choosers, I reckon. I’m in the auction so we’ll see where I’ll end up but it will be a nice touch to go to Bangalore.”

The Women’s T20 League is a much-anticipated tournament for the Indians for the cricketers around the world. It will be a huge leap for Indian women’s cricket as a whole. The competition is slated to be held in March, ahead of the Indian T20 League season that will commence in April. The Indian cricket board announced that the rights of the teams were sold at INR 4669.99 crores, an amount greater than that of Indian T20 League back in 2008.
