Star Indian batter Virat Kohli finally ended his century drought in red-ball cricket after he scored 186 runs off 364 balls in the fourth and final Test against Australia in Ahmedabad. He was awarded Player of the Match for his marathon knock as India clinched the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the fourth time in a row with a scoreline of 2-1.

The 34-year-old finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the series, and it seems like he has also regained his form in the whites. His performance will also be crucial for India in the upcoming Test Championship final which is set to be held at The Oval in London on June 7. Former Pakistani pacer Mohammad Amir praised the Indian batter for his performances over the past few months and also slammed the critics who the doubted him. Amir also picked Kohli when asked about his comparison with Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam.

‘You can never doubt Kohli for his hard work’ – Amir

“Who are these people who are criticizing Kohli? I really don’t understand. At the end of the day he is human. It’s not like he has a remote and you press the button everyday and you get a hundred and Kohli will win the match for India. Every player goes through ups and downs. I know because there are certain days when I feel I am bowling well but I don’t pick any wickets,” said Amir as quoted by Hindustan Times.

“And then many a times it is like I bowl bizarrely, probably a full toss or down-the-leg delivery, and I get a wicket. You need luck as well. And you can never doubt Kohli for his hard work. He loves challenges. Every time he has been criticized, he has bounced back to prove them wrong,” the Pakistani pacer further added.

Indian have qualified for the final of the Test Championship after New Zealand registered a thrilling victory over Sri Lanka in Christchurch by 2 wickets. Both India and Australia will once again lock horns for the title at The Oval on the 7th of June. Amir also stated that India have a very good chance to win the Test final when he was asked to choose the Champion at The Oval. “India. They have very good chances,” Amir said.

(2) Mountain Lover on Twitter: “@_FaridKhan Babar is a class player, easy on eyes & plays elegant shots. But that’s where the comparison ends. Babar looks vulnerable even after being set & doesn’t dominate bowlers. Kohli dominates bowling attacks. He has won so many games for India single-handedly especially in chasing.” / Twitter
