Gujarat Titans star pacer Mohammed Shami has been tremendous with the new ball in the ongoing IPL 2023 match with Delhi Capitals at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The 32-year-old bowled a deadly spell that destroyed DC’s top order. Shami ended up taking 4 wickets by conceding just 11 runs in his spell of four overs.

Shami stuck from the very first ball of the match as he dismissed Phil Salt with a length delivery outside off which the DC opener ended up throwing on the hands of David Miller at extra cover. Skipper David Warner got runout giving DC a second blow.

In the third over, Rilee Rossouw decided to poke the good-length delivery which found the outside edge of his bat and was caught by the wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. An over later, the duo of Shami and Saha charged up again by dismissing Manish Pandey, while a few deliveries later, Priyam Garg was dismissed in the same manner.

Due to Shami’s unplayable bowling, DC lost their 5 wickets for just 23 runs after five overs. With this, the Indian fast bowler also tops the list of leading wicket-takers of the tournament so far. Shami has now scalped 17 wickets from the nine matches with an economy of 7.05.

Axar Patel and Aman Hakim Khan’s partnership helped DC to post a respectable total

Talking further about the game, after losing quick wickets, Axar Patel and Aman Hakim Khan took charge of DC’s batting as they put up a partnership of 50 runs for the sixth. Patel got out after scoring 27 runs off 30 balls with two fours and a maximum. On the other hand, Aman went on to score his maiden IPL half-century as he got out in the 19th over after scoring 51 runs off 41 balls hitting three fours and three sixes.

At last, DC managed to score 130 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs. For GT, apart from Shami, Mohit Sharma scalped 2 wickets by conceding 33 runs in his four overs, while Rashid Khan put 1 in his bag.
