Australia’s star batter Steve Smith is not seen playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, which disappointed many fans. He captained Rising Pune Super Giants (RPS) in the year 2017, and under his captaincy, the team played the final. But, they missed out on winning the title by losing to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final. And now once again, Smith will perhaps gear up for the IPL2024.

In IPL 2023, Steve Smith is not seen as a player but as a commentator. However, Smith himself has confirmed that he will give his name in the IPL 2024 auction. Now it will be interesting to see that there are a total of 10 teams in the IPL and which of these 10 teams will sign him. If Smith is sold in the auction, then he can definitely see us playing in the 17th season of IPL as any of these 10 teams can be such that they can make Smith the captain of their team.

“I didn’t put my name in the auction this year, it’s a big year for Australian Cricket, but I’ll put my name in next year and if someone picks me up, it’ll be great.”

I think Gujarat’s squad is outstanding again: Steve Smith

Smith also revealed the name of the team that impressed him most. He believes Gujarat Titans (GT) is again playing this season as last year they won their first title. He later also talked about Rinku Singh’s marvelous 5 sixes he hit on Sunday against GT.

“Probably Gujarat, Obviously they had an amazing year last year winning their first year and then this year I think their squad’s outstanding again so… yeah … I think they are going to go a long way again in this tournament.”

“I mean, pretty amazing, wasn’t it? 5 sixes in a row at any time of the game is pretty special but the last 5 balls of the game to get your team home, yeah… that stuff dreams are made of.”
