Star Indian batter Virat Kohli met with the players of Bangalore franchise women before their sixth match of the Women’s T20 League with UP. Bangalore were coming after five back-to-back losses and Kohli motivated them by sharing his experiences with the franchise and asking them to give their hundred per cent for the rest of the season.

It seemed like Kohli’s words made a positive impact in the Bangalore camp as they went on to win their first game of the season after defeating Up by 5 five wickets last night. Skipper Smriti Mandhana also said at the post-match presentation that the team made most of the most of Kohli’s pep talk. The franchise also shared a video on their social media where the 34-year-old is seen giving motivation to Bangalore girls.

“I have been playing Indian T20 League for 15 years and I haven’t won it yet. But that doesn’t stop me from being excited every year.” Kohli said while interacting with the Bangalore camp.

“Bangalore still has 1% chance, the important thing is what players think about 1%, make 1% to 10% then to 30% & something magical might happen, even if nothing happens, walking head high after 3 games is really important as well, build character in you for next season,” he further added.

Young Kanika Ahuja takes Bangalore home

A great bowling by Bangalore helped them bowl UP out for 135 runs in 19.3 overs. UP had a disastrous start as they were reduced to 31 for 5 inside nine overs. However, Grace Harris (46 off 32) and Deepti (22 off 19) put up a partnership of 69 runs for the sixth wicket that helped UP to go beyond 100. After back-to-back fifties in the last two games, Ellyse Perry now showed her form with the as well as she scalped 3 wickets for 16 runs in her four overs.

Coming to chase the winning total, Bangalore also didn’t had a great start as they lost Sophie Devine, Mandhana, Perry and Heather Knight inside nine overs. After that young batter, Kanika Ahuja took the charge and added 60 runs with Richa Ghosh (31 off 32) for the fifth wicket. Ahuja got out after scoring 46 runs off 30 balls. She was also awarded Player of the match for her match-winning knock. Bangalore chased the target losing 5 wickets with 12 balls remaining.
