‘Fixer talking about sportsman spirit’ – Fans Slam Mohammad Asif For Calling Deepti Sharma ‘Cheater’ After Lord’s Incident

On 24 September 2022, India Women locked horns with England Women for the third ODI of the series at Lord’s. Coming to that game, India already bagged the series, and eventually, it was the last ever game for veteran pacer Jhulan Goswami. Hence, India Women were looking for a clean sweep over England on their home soil to give a fitting goodbye to their experienced pacer, Jhulan Goswami.

However, India managed to win the match by 16 runs. Thus, they won the series at a margin of 3-0. But, the dismissal of Charlotte Dean became the talk of the town after the match. She was the last wicket that India took to win the match. But, Deepti Sharma ran out her at the non-striker end. Hence, some cricketers did not find that mode of dismissal legal. Hence, they shared their opinions on social media platforms.

Fans troll Mohammad Asif for calling Deepti Sharma a cheater for her actions

Speaking about that incident, former Pakistan player, Mohammad Asif also came up with his views on Twitter. He wrote: “We can see it clearly there is no intention of bowling the ball, she is looking towards non-striker batter to cheat him. This is a very unfair & terrible act worst spirit #mankading #mankad #Cheater #INDvsENG”. In his Tweet, Asif termed Deeti Sharma a cheater. But, that did not go well with the fans as they came up to support her. Fans started to troll or slam him on the social media platform.

Speaking about Mohammad Asif, he was a part of the 2010 spot-fixing scandal in England. Playing for Pakistan, Asif was seen orchestrating the bowling of no-balls in a Test match against England at Lord’s in return for money. As a result, Asif was given a one-year prison sentence for his role in the scandal on 3 November 2011. Hence, fans remembered him for his actions during his playing days despite calling other cheaters.
