 Big News! Suresh Raina Decides To End His Indian T20 League Career

Suresh Raina has been an integral part of the Chennai franchise in the history of the Indian T20 League. Along with MS Dhoni, he has been a strong pillar for the team and the fans. However, during the last edition of the tournament, the franchise did not retain or buy him. It came as a surprise for the fans.

Since then, there are rumours of a rift between this veteran player and the franchise. But, nothing has been confirmed between them as of now. Recently, Raina shared a video where he was practicing while donning the Chennai jersey. So fans were happy with the hope that he will be back for the next season in Chennai. But, now as per reports in Dainik Jagran, Raina might have retired from the Indian T20 League already. 

“I am looking forward to playing in different leagues around the world.” – Suresh Raina

While speaking to Dainik Jagran, Suresh Raina said that he is looking to play in different leagues around the world. He also thanked the Indian Cricket Board and the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA) for supporting him in his journey so far. He said: ”I wish to play cricket for around 2-3 years more. A lot of good players are there in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) domestic team now and doing really well. I have obtained NOC from UPCA as well. I have even informed the Indian Cricket Board secretaries Jay Shah and Rajiv Shukla about my decision. I want to thank the Indian Cricket Board and UPCA for supporting me in my career.”

Now, on 6 September 2022, Suresh Raina officially confirmed his retirement. He shared a tweet and wrote: It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket. I would like to thank @BCCI, @UPCACricket, @ChennaiIPL, @ShuklaRajiv sir & all my fans for their support and unwavering faith in my abilities.”

However, in that interaction, he also added that he will be in action again in the upcoming Road Safety world series. “ I am looking forward to playing in different leagues around the world. I will feature in the Road Safety world series which starts on 10th September. Franchises from South Africa, Sri Lanka, and UAE have approached me till now. Once the situation gets cleared, I will inform everyone myself.” Suresh Raina concluded.
