In a shocking turn of events, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan was shot in the leg in a gunfire attack on Thursday. The unfortunate incident happened during Khan’s ‘real freedom’ rally at Zafarali Khan Chowk in the Wazirabad. In an apparent ‘assassination’ bid, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister was reportedly shot in the leg ‘three to four’ times.

During the rally, a gunman opened fire in an attempt to kill the former Pakistan cricket team captain. Khan was later moved to a bullet-proof vehicle from the container truck and taken to the hospital for treatment. Furthermore, senator Faisal Javed Khan has also been severely injured during the attack. A video of him covered in blood has been doing the rounds on the internet.

Ahead of the new elections, Khan has been delivering speeches in his march from Lahore to Punjab province along with many other supporters. He started his long march on 28th October and was set to conclude in Islamabad on 11th November 2022.

The PTI leader, Fawad Chaudhary claimed that Imran Khan was shot with an AK-47 and it was a planned attack. Khan has been taken to Lahore and is currently being treated in a hospital.

“He is in stable condition,” Raoof Hasan, a senior aide said, declaring, “This was an attempt to kill him, to assassinate him.”

Meanwhile, the current Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif issued a statement condemning the incident and asked authorities to immediately launch an investigation.

“India is “closely keeping an eye” on the attack at Imran Khan’s rally.”The development just took place as I was coming into this briefing. This is something that we are closely keeping an eye on.” Ministry of external affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said.

“The cowards have shown their times Imran Khan is injured, may Allah protect him, the whole nation should pray for the life of Imran Khan,” Farrukh Habib, a senior member of Khan’s party, also tweeted.
