Breaking! Rashid Khan indicates pulling out of BBL 2022-23 as Australia cancels ODI series against Afghanistan

Rashid Khan has expressed his displeasure over Cricket Australia canceling the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan. Both teams were meant to play a series in the United Arab Emirates in Match this year. However, the CA has decided to cancel the series. The board cited the Taliban’s ban on women playing any sport. Since the theocratic organization’s takeover of the governance in Afghanistan, women’s rights have gone for a toss.

On the other hand, the Australian board has been vocal about making the game inclusive for both boys and girls. Not to forget, they have worked hard to build strong men’s and women’s teams over the years. Meanwhile, in the statement released by the Kangaroos, it says that the board is supportive of growing the game for women and men around the world. It added that they will continue to work with the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) to improve the women’s cricket situation in the Asian country.

“CA is committed to supporting growing the game for women and men around the world, including in Afghanistan, and will continue to engage with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in anticipation of improved conditions for women and girls in the country,” the CA statement read.

“We thank the Australian Government for its support on this matter.”

Hours after this, Khan took to Twitter and wrote a long statement. In the statement, he expressed his displeasure and added that he would consider his future in the Big Bash League.

“I am really disappointed to hear that Australia have pulled out of the series to play us in March. I take great pride in representing my country and we have made great progress on the world stage. This decision from CA sets up back in that journey. If playing vs Afghanistan is so uncomfortable for Australia then I wouldn’t want to make anyone uncomfortable with my presence in the BBL. Therefore, I will be strongly considering my future in that competition.”
