Joburg Super Kings and Paarl Royals are locking horns in the fourth game of the ongoing SA20 2023 in Paarl. The visitors, Super Kings were coming off a come-from-behind win against the Durban Super Giants. On the other hand, the Royals lost their opening game against MI Cape Town. Meanwhile, in the game, the Kings won the toss and elected to bowl first.

However, their decision proved wrong as the home team, the Royals wreaked havoc against them. The Yellow Brigade, Joburg, kept losing wickets consistently. Bjorn Fortuin started the demolition job as he struck twice in the third over of the innings. In the next over, South Africa international Lungi Ngidi struck to keep the demolition job going. Fortuin came to bowl his second over and took his third wicket.

At 16/4, Kyle Verreynne and the last match’s hero, Donovan Ferriera joined hands and tried to resurrect the innings. However, Evan Jones cleaned up Donovan. The next over, Tabraiz Shamsi removed Verrynne from the crease to reduce the side to 35/6. Things worsened as Romario Shepherd was trapped lbw by Ferisco Adams and the team was reduced to 36/7.

Lower-order batters of JSK showed some application

After losing seven wickets for 36 runs, the writing was pretty much on the wall. However, the JSK’s lower-order batters such as Alzarri Joseph, and the last batting pair of Lizzad Williams and Aaron Phangiso took the team to 81 all-out. This is now the lowest total in the history of the tournament which is witnessing its inaugural season.

Talking about PR bowling, Fortuin and Evan Jones took three wickets each. On the other hand, Ferisco Adams took two while Lungi Ngidi and Tabraiz Shamsi took one each.
