Ambati Rayudu has been an integral part of the Indian T20 League since his debut in 2010. He has been a part of the two most successful teams in the Indian T20 League, Mumbai and Chennai. He was a part of the 2013, 2015, and 2017 title-winning Mumbai team, he also laid his hands on the coveted trophy with Chennai in 2018 and 2021.

In the last 5 years, he has developed himself into a power hitter under the leadership of MS Dhoni. He has been a very important part in the last few years, of the batting of the Men in Yellow. On what comes in as the latest reports Ambati Rayudu is considering retirement from the Indian T20 League after the conclusion of the 15th edition of the tournament.

He even announced his retirement from the cash-reach league through Tweet from his official Twitter account. The Tweet read- “I am happy to announce that this will be my last itl. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Would love to sincerely thank Mumbai and Chennai for the wonderful journey.”

However, the right-hand batter deleted his Tweet later. The CEO of the Chennai team Kashi Vishwanathan also confirmed that Rayudu is not retiring from ITL in a conversation with NDTV. But the deleted Tweet from the player himself has given rise to rumors that he might be drawing curtains over his ITL career very soon.

Notably, Rayudu drew curtains over his international career abruptly. Reports were ripe at the time that he got frustrated for not being included in the 2019 World Cup and took the decision. However, He soon came out of his retirement and said that decision was taken in haste.

Speaking of Rayudu’s career, he has played 187 matches in the Indian T20 League. He has scored 4187 runs in the 187 matches at an average of 29.3 and a strike rate of 127.3. He also represented India in 55 ODI matches and 6 T20I matches. His records look pretty decent in ODIs as he has scored 1694 runs in the format at an average of 47.0 and a strike rate of 79.0. In the six T20Is, he scored 42 runs at an average of 10.5 and a strike rate of 84.0.
