After missing the first ODI match of the ongoing three-match ODI series against England, Virat Kohli made a comeback in the playing XI in the second match. However, the match did not go well for India as they experienced a 100-run defeat to England. Indian batters had a huge collapse as they failed to chase down the tricky target of 247 runs.

Virat also failed to contribute as he scored only 16 runs off 25 balls. He started the innings with some fantastic boundaries. But, again he failed to capitalize as he lost his wicket to David Willey. After this match, former cricketers came up with some tough questions for the Indian Cricket Board for continuously picking up Virat despite his poor run of form. Since 2019, he failed to score any century for India across all three formats.

But, current India skipper Rohit Sharma came in support of him when he attended a press conference after the completion of the match. Rohit said that a player like Virat Kohli does not need any reassurance and what he has done for the team over the last 10 years, can not be denied at all. An interesting incident occurred when current Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam also came up with a supportive tweet for Kohli during his tough time with the bat. Babar shared a photo of him with Kohli from the last year’s edition of the T20 World Cup with a captain: “This too shall pass. Stay strong. #ViratKohli”. Fans went crazy when Babar sent this heartwarming gesture from his side.

However, in reply to that, on 16 July 2022, Virat Kohli replied to Babar Azam by wishing him good luck. He wrote: “Thank you. Keep shining and rising. Wish you all the best.” with a ‘clap’ emoji. After this gesture from Kohli, fans went crazier as they took up their Twitter to heap praises for both these players regarding their gesture.
