Talking about the game, the visitors won the toss and elected to bowl first. For the Magenta brigade, Australia Test vice-captain, Steve Smith opened the batting alongside Josh Phillipe. The former scored his first hundred in his BBL career. Also, he is now the first Sydney Sixers player to do so. His innings helped the side post a daunting 203/5.

In reply, the Blue Brigade was bowled out for 144 runs, losing the game by 59 runs. After the game, Sixers skipper Moises Henriques said “It was a good game for us. When you score over 200, they usually go one of two ways. Either a really close one or a blowout. Steve was amazing tonight, would’ve gone even further if we didn’t run him out. I probably cost him 30 or 40 runs. He had some nice catches. He was on tonight. Hopefully we see him around in the magenta a little more often,” Moises Henriques in the post-match ceremony
