In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, fans witnessed a high-voltage game between Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore at the iconic Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. In the low-scoring game, RCB beat LSG by 18 runs as the host failed to chase 127 runs in 20 overs. Meanwhile, fans trolled star commentator Aakash Chopra for being wrong while making predictions for the game.

Ahead of the much-awaited clash, Chopra posted a preview video on his YouTube channel and picked LSG as the winner of the game. However, his prediction went wrong which led to the criticism. Notably, this year Chopra has been consistently wrong with his predictions and fans have made fun of his previews. The star broadcaster has a vast experience of the game and conditions and has been one of the most regarded commentators in the world.

In the game, while batting first, RCB failed to put up a show as they were restricted to 126 in 20 overs. Chasing a below-par total, LSG failed to hold its nerves and lost the game. After the game things got heated between Virat Kohli and LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir, which led to an ugly spat between the two.

“Totally Avoidable”, says Aakash Chopra on the issue

Speaking on the fight between the two players Chopra said, “Why does Kohli get so angry and why is Gautam so Gambhir? No matter what happened in the match, what happened after the match was a bigger commotion – avoidable in my opinion. It was payback time and it happened. You (RCB) lost the last match by one wicket and here you won by 18 runs. The scenes after that were not very nice. Personally, it just leaves a sour taste in the mouth.”

Further, Aakash Chopra claimed in the same video that Virat Kohli’s altercations with Gautam Gambhir (and Naveen-ul-Haq) set a negative precedent for the kids who look up to him as a role model. “You have two great players, of which one is Virat Kohli, the youth icon. You look at him and want to become like him. But when he is part of a constant tussle, you want to become a player like him but what about the … – you get it, right,” he said. “The same is true for Gautam. It was not required to be very honest. It happened in Chinnaswamy too. Both of them have a little history as well but you have to diffuse the situation. I feel it was a little too much”, he further added.
