Recently, the wicketkeeper batter from Kerala, Sanju Samson missed out on the selection for the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Notably, he was out of favor of the team after the ODI series against Zimbabwe. The right-hander was dropped from the team when the Indian squad for the Asia Cup 2022 was announced. At that time, Samson’s fans lodged their protests on Twitter.

Before he was dropped from the team, he had a decent series against the West Indies. After this, the wicketkeeper batter was hoped to be part of the team by the fans for the upcoming showpiece event. However, the 27-year-old won’t be part of the squad that will travel to Australia. The fans have been questioning the selectors on why Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul are being favored so much.

Apparently, Pant has had a lean patch in the shortest format, and Rahul having a tough time with the bat after coming from an injury. Now, it is reported by IANS that the cricket fans in Kerala are preparing to stage a protest against the Indian Cricket Board. Further reports suggest that the fans are planning to enter the stadium while wearing T-Shirt bearing Samson’s face.

The protest may happen on September 28

On this day, India and South Africa will play the first game of the three-match T20I series in Thiruvanathapuram. The match will be played at the Greenfield International Stadium. As Sanju is a local, the fans are reportedly looking forward to protesting inside the stadium. Talking about Samson, he has made his way up since making his debut for Rajasthan in the Indian T20 League in 2013. In the seasons 2021 and 2022, he led the Jaipur-base team.

Talking about his international career, he played seven ODIs and 16T20Is. The Trivandrum-born player made his debut in T20Is way back in 2015 against Zimbabwe. In the ODIs, he made his debut last year in Sri Lanka. He hasn’t got too many opportunities at the highest level.
