Former Brazil and Barcelona footballer, Dani Alves has been slapped with a prison sentence of 18 years over rape charges. Apparently, the victim filed a case in relation to the alleged incident on December 30 in a nightclub in Barcelona. A judge in a Spanish court heard the testimony from the victim and a witness and slapped the former player with a jail sentence of 18 years.

Alves is said to have gone to the Mossos d’Esquadra de Les Corts police station to testify about the charges leveled against him. The recent reports suggested that he is due to arrive at Ciutat de la Justicia in Barcelona. The judge sentenced Dani Alves to prison without bail. Meanwhile, the Brazilian had denied the allegation before the sentencing.

Dani Alves, his current and ex-wives have denied the allegation

While the former player has been sentenced for a long time, Alves, his current and ex-wives have stood up for him. First of all, Alves has denied the allegations by saying that he was enjoying himself and never invaded anyone’s privacy. He added that he never saw the victim before in his life.

“Yes, I was in that place, with more people, enjoying myself. And people who know me know that I love to dance. I was dancing and enjoying myself without invading the space of others.”

“I don’t know who that lady is. You arrive at a bathroom and you don’t have to ask who’s there. I have never invaded anyone’s space. How am I going to do it with a woman or a girl? No, for God’s sake,” Alves said.

On the other hand, Joana Sanz, his wife has said that her husband is a respectful man

“I know who my husband is, I know how I met him, I know how respectful he is because not even when he was getting to know me did he lack to respect,” Joana Sanz said in an interview. Apart from her, Dana Dinorah, his ex-wife has also maintained that her spouse wouldn’t do something like this.
