After their dismal show in the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, India will now focus to do well in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup. Despite having a good start in the Asia Cup, India failed to win two out of three matches in the ‘Super Four’ stage. Thus, their journey in the tournament came to an early end.

However, during the tournament, fans and former cricketers criticized India’s team selection throughout the tournament. Even, the final squad for this tournament got criticized. Now, ahead of the World Cup, former Indian pacer, Ashish Nehra shared his predicted squad for India.

Ashish Nehra excluded Deepak Chahar from his predicted squad of India for the 20-20 World Cup

Former Indian pacer excluded Deepak Chahar and Mohammed Shami from his final squad of India. He went with Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul as his openers. For the spin department, he picked up Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravichandran Ashwin. All though, as per reports, Jadeja might miss the World Cup for his knee injury. Nehra said that he would like to add Mohammad Shami. But, Indian selectors might be looking at him as a Test specialist only. Nehra also dismissed any place for Deepak Chahar as he just came out of injury.

He said: “One name, however, comes to my mind and that is Mohammed Shami. Being a Test specialist, he hasn’t attracted that much focus from the selectors. And I am not saying this because I saw him up and close in the Gujarat franchise. Not only Chahal and Jadeja are important, but even Ravi Ashwin is also important. Even if he plays, he can make an impact.” Finally, Nehra picked up four pacers in Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar Harshal Patel, and Jasprit Bumrah.

Ashish Nehra’s 15-man India Squad for 20-20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, Suryakumar Yadav, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravichandran Ashwin, Dinesh Karthik, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, Arshdeep Singh, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Deepak Hooda.
