Supernovas and Velocity faced each other in the second match of the Women’s T20 Challenge 2022. The two teams battled it out in a thrilling encounter.

Velocity won the toss and the captain Deepti Sharma decided to field first. The bowlers repaid the faith the skipper showed in them. The Supernovas were reduced to 18 for 3 in just 3.5 overs. It was the skipper Harmanpreet Kaur and Taniya Bhatia who staged a turned around for their team. They stitched together a partnership of 82 runs and got the team past the 100-runs mark in the 15th over of the innings. Bhatia (36 of 32) was runout in the 15th over after the duo has provided a bit of solidity to the Supernovas’ innings. Kau however, continued strongly after that and scored 71 runs off 51 balls. She hit 7 fours and 3 sixes before being dismissed in the 19th over of the innings. Sune Luus played a cameo of 20 runs off 14 and helped her team to a total of 150 runs in their 20 overs. Kate Cross was the pick of the bowlers for Velocity with 2 wickets for 24 runs from her 4 overs.

Velocity’s chase was dominated by Shafali Verma at the beginning. Shafali played a stunning knock of 51 runs off 32 deliveries hitting 9 fours and 1 six during her stay. She also achieved the feat of scoring the quickest half-century in the history of the tournament having achieved it in just 30 balls. It required a stunning fielding effort from Harmanpreet Kaur to dismiss Verma in the 10th over of the innings. When Shefali walked back Velocity was positioned at 80 for 3 in 9.4 overs. Deepti Sharma (24 of 25) and Laura Wolvaardt (51 of 35) stayed at the crease till the end and ensured Velocity win the match comfortably. They won the match by 7 wickets with 10 balls remaining in the match.
