India is facing Australia in the series decider game of the ongoing three-match ODI series. Rohit Sharma and co will be looking to make a comeback after getting trashed by the visitors in the second ODI. However, the team management has faced criticism after an embarrassing loss, and Suryakumar Yadav is one of the players receiving the most criticism for his poor performance in the first two ODIs.

Meanwhile, former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja backs Surya amid his two back-to-back golden ducks. In the first two games, Mitchell Starc identically dismissed Surya for a golden duck. Surya’s performance has prompted questions about his technique and ability to play the 50-over format. Fans are demanding to play KL Rahul or Axar Patel ahead of Surya in the batting order. Speaking on the same, Jadeja believes that in a crucial situation, there will be a change in the batting order but it will not be Axar Patel.

Speaking with Cricbuzz Jadeja said, “If an early wicket goes down, you may see a batting promotion but it won’t be Axar Patel. It is easy for us to say, but the man running the show has to handle a lot – look after the players and take in certain pressures. At max, we will see one change. If India goes 20/2 again, I do not doubt that the management and the captain, KL Rahul will come at 4 and Suryakumar Yadav at 5. No doubt Axar Patel has been playing well – he is probably batting the best – but sending him ahead of Hardik Pandya? Don’t think that is going to happen.”

“It will hurt his confidence”, says Ajay Jadeja

Speaking further on Yadav’s performance Jadeja said, “For many years, there have been batters playing ahead and that will continue. A batter who has gotten 2 ducks, if you push him down, it will hurt his confidence. But like I said, if an early wicket falls, you will see KL Rahul ahead because earlier when he wasn’t in form, he was dropped from the Test playing XI, and now that he has, he will get a chance.”

Notably, Suryakumar Yadav has been disastrous in his Day career as he has scored only 433 runs in 20 innings. In between, he averaged just 25.47 and has hammered two half centuries including the last one in February 2022.
