After a long wait, former India skipper Virat Kohli has finally managed to hit an ODI hundred since 2019. In August of that year, the right-hander hit his 43rd ODI hundred in the game against the West Indies. Since then, he managed to get close on a few occasions but couldn’t cross the triple-figure mark. However, after a wait for more than three years, he has finally managed to do so.

The 34-year-old came out to bat after Shikhar Dhawan was given out LBW by the third umpire. The team needed him to do well as they have already lost the series and are staring down whitewash. Meanwhile, the former India skipper rose to the occasion and hit his 44th ODI hundred. However, his innings were overshadowed by Ishan Kishan’s double hundred.

Talking about Virat Kohli’s innings, he hit 11 fours and two sixes in his innings of 113 runs off 91 balls. With this century, he has gone past Ricky Ponting’s 71 international hundreds across formats. Kohli now has 72 international hundreds and is only behind Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 centuries. Also, Virat Kohli is only five hundreds away from breaking Tendulkar’s record of 49 ODI hundreds.

India set to get past the 400-run mark

Meanwhile, talking about the ongoing third ODI between Bangladesh and India, the Men In Blue are set to go past the 400-run mark. At the time of writing, the visitors have reached 385/5 in 47 overs. The likes of Washington Sundar and Axar Patel are batting at the crease and they are capable to get past the mark easily. The last time India reached the 400-run mark was against Sri Lanka in 2014.

Fans might remember the game as Rohit Sharma’s 264-run-inning. Since then, the team hasn’t crossed the 400-run mark. This is the perfect opportunity for the team to show they are one of the top ODI sides. In recent years, England, who won the ODI World Cup in 2019, have threatened to get past the 500-run mark twice.
