The recent assassination attempt on former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan created concerns on England’s tour of Pakistan 2022. For the unversed, the Three Lions are scheduled to tour the Asian country for the three-match Test series. In September this year, the team toured Pakistan for the seven-match T20I series. This was the first time since 2005 that England toured Pakistan.

Notably, this was the first leg of the series between the teams. The next part of the series will be played next month which consists of three Tests. Everything around the series was copacetic until Khan was attacked during a political rally. Currently, he is recovering after being shot in the leg. Not to forget, this unfortunate incident also created concerns about the security of the England team.

England players trust their security advisor, Reg Dickason: Ben Stokes

Meanwhile, ahead of England’s semifinal game in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022 against India, England Test skipper Ben Stokes opened up on the prospect of the Pakistan tour. He started by expressing his shock over the attack on Khan. After this, the England all-rounder said that the team’s security advisor Reg Dickason is in Pakistan. According to Stokes, Reg is currently assessing the security situation in Pakistan.

“Obviously what happened there last week was a bit of a shock to see,” Stokes told reporters in Adelaide. “But we’ve currently got Reg Dickason out there.
“He’s been the main [security] man for England for many years now. In my opinion he’s the best man to be out there to assess the situation.
“But we can’t really comment on anything until we’ve all the information back from Reg once he’s out there. But the players and the people going out on that tour 100 percent trust him. He’s a man you trust with your life, Reg.”
It will be interesting to see whether the tour goes ahead. Notably, the ECB scheduled this tour as a goodwill gesture after pulling out year.
