The ninth game of the inaugural season was one of the high scoring ones. Batting first, the VVS Laxman-led side amassed 214/5, thanks to Andrew Symonds (117*). In reply, the then Shane Warne-led side chased down the target, thanks to Graeme Smith (71), Yusuf Pathan (61), Mohammad Kaif (34), and Warne (22*). The team won the game by three wickets and one ball to spare.
