The Indian T20 League 2022 is the biggest in the world at present. The players of the whole cricketing fraternity are always excited to take part in the cash-rich league. But the teams are always looking for specialized players to meet the demand of certain roles for them in that season. This has often resulted in big names of the game being ignored by the franchises during the auctions. As the seasons have progressed the fans and experts have felt that a certain unsold player might have filled in the hole in certain teams. Here is a list of five such unsold players who could have done well for different teams in the Indian T20 League 2022.

Amit Mishra- Mumbai: The most successful team in the history of the Indian T20 League, Mumbai had a terrible time in the 15th edition of the tournament. They lost 10 of their 14 matches and were the first team to e eliminated from the competition. One of the biggest weak points that came out was their lack of a world-class spinner. Due to the absence of a quality and experienced spinner, Mumbai gave most of the matches in the middle overs. They were neither able to pick up wickets nor contain the opposition. Thus, the presence of Amidst Mishra could have been beneficial to them. Mishra is the third-highest wicket-taker in the history of the tournament (166 wickets) and also has three wickets to his name. He would have been a great bowling option for Rohit Sharma in the middle overs.

Eoin Morgan- Hyderabad: Hyderabad’s biggest liability this season was Kane Williamson, the batter. Williamson scored just 216 runs from 12 matches at a strike rate of 93.51 and an average of 19.64. His performances also affected his captaincy as he took some bizarre decisions on the field. Eoin Morgan would have been very handy at this stage. He could have stepped in as a captain as his leadership skills are unquestionable. Morgan led Kolkata to the finals in the 2021 season of the tournament and could have taken the pressure off Kane Williamson this year.

Paul Stirling-Kolkata: Kolkata struggled throughout the season in finding a decent opening pair. In the middle stages of the tournament, the struggle was so evident that they were using a new combination in nearly every match. This is where the Irish all-rounder Paul Stirling could have been handy. He has the massive experience of playing 250+ T20 Matches in his career. Stirling could have opened the innings for them and could have also rolled his arms over if the team required him to do so.

Kane Richardson – Chennai: Chennai had a visible struggle with their bowling attack. In the initial stages, they were struggling to find a new bowl bowler in absence of Deepak Chahar. However, Mukesh Choudhary answered their woes about it. But the absence of a death-over specialist stayed with them throughout the tournament. Kane Richardson who has 180 wickets in 142 T20 Matches at an economy of 7.99 could have been useful for Chennai.

Steve Smith: Steve Smith was one of the big names that went unsold in the mega auction for the Indian T20 League 2022. He would have been a brilliant fit in a volatile Punjab batting lineup. The Punjab batting displayed only one mode throughout the season. They were attacking at every stage and every situation in the matches. Their approach was reckless, to say the least. What Punjab lacked was an adhesive factor in the middle order. The former Aussie skipper, Steve Smith with a strike rate of 128.1 in the ITL could have played the role of an anchor top perfection for Punjab.
