Former Indian all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh criticized Rinku Singh and Mandeep Singh for their batting strategy during KKR’s defeat to DC on Thursday. The KKR batting order collapsed at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, allowing the Capitals to win their first game of the season at the cost of the two-time IPL Champions. None of the other KKR batters got going, which included the likes of Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell at the end, as the DC bowlers kept taking wickets at regular intervals. Mandeep, who had been brought in for the game, failed once more while Rinku, whose last-over heroics helped KKR defeat GT, scored just six runs.

Axar Patel removed both players, and it was he who also scored the winning runs for DC after the KKR bowlers had made the game close for them in the end. Yuvraj was particularly dissatisfied with Rinku and Mandeep’s performance, and the KKR batting received criticism for their performance on the day. The former left-hand batter expressed his displeasure on Twitter at the attitude followed by both KKR batsmen throughout the scenario. Yuvraj opined that Mandeep and Rinku ought to have made an effort to reduce risk and form a partnership.

Kolkata Knight Riders to face Chennai Super Kings next

According to Yuvraj, they ought to have adopted an ODI strategy up to the 15th over as Andre Russell waited in the background. “Not happy with @mandeep and @rinkusingh235 approach in this situation Not matter how high your confidence u got to cut out the risk to create a partnership when wickets are falling Need to stick to a one-day mindset till the 15th. Caus u have @Russell12A Comin at the end,” tweeted Yuvraj.

Kolkata Knight Riders suffered their third straight defeat following a promising start to the year. On Sunday, April 23 they will host MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens. KKR are currently in the eighth position in the points table with four points in six matches, whereas CSK has won four games out of the six games they have played so far in the cash-rich league.
