Pakistan has been potentially ruled out of the semis race of the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022. They started their tournament with a last-ball loss against arch-rivals, India. After this, they needed to win at all costs against Zimbabwe to remain alive for the semis race. However, the Southern African side managed to defend 130 runs to clinch a famous win against the 2009 winners.

With this loss, the Babar Azam-led side’s chances of qualifying for the semis are grim. Right after the game, the 2009 winning member, Mohammad Amir called for the sacking of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairperson, Ramiz RajaThe former mentioned that he always called out the poor team selection ahead of the mega event. Amir also asked who will take responsibility for the Green brigade’s poor show in Australia.

From day one I said poor selection ab is cheez ki responsibility kon le ga I think it’s time to get rid of so called chairman jo PCB ka khuda bana hua hai and so called chief selector. (From day one, I said it’s a poor selection. Who will take the responsibility? I think it’s time to get rid of the so-called PCB chairman who thinks he is the god, as well as the so-called chief selector),” Amir wrote.

Pakistan will now have to depend on other teams to qualify for the semis

Talking about India and South Africa, they are leading the charts with four and three points respectively. The Proteas might have had an extra point if not for the abandonment of their game against Zimbabwe. Now, all South Africa needs to do is to win all their game including the one against India. On the other hand, the 2007 winners will still qualify for the semis even if they lost to South Africa. Both teams will play each other on October 30.

Pakistan team and its fan will be hoping for India to win the game. Even if India loses this one, their remaining games are against Zimbabwe and Bangladesh. India is expected to win these games.
