On January 7, Suryakumar Yadav hit his third T20I hundred against Sri Lanka. In the third T20I against the Lankan Lions, he came out to bat after Rahul Tripathi’s wicket right before the end of the powerplay. The right-hander, Surya, came out to bat and started taking the game away from the opposition. Tripathi had provided a great start with 35 off 15 and Yadav took over after the former’s wicket.

The Mumbaikar scored an unbeaten 112 runs off 51 balls including seven fours and nine sixes. His inning helped the Men In Blue reach 228/5. In reply, the Dasun Shanaka-led side was folded for a small total of 137 runs in 16.4 overs. Meanwhile, former Pakistan leg-spinner Danish Kaneria was impressed with Yadav’s innings.

Suryakumar Yadav is the new Universe Boss: Danish Kaneria

The former leggie went on to say that Yadav is the new Universe Boss. Notably, the term is used for Chris Gayle, the former West Indies opening batter. Kaneria added that Surya is a once-in-a-lifetime player and no one can replicate his recent hundred. Danish further added that even the likes of Gayle and AB de Villiers look pale in front of Surya.

The new Universe Boss is Suryakumar Yadav-the beast. Now what can I tell about this lad, even before I have said that a player like Suryakumar comes once in a lifetime. The innings which he played today, scoring 112 off 51, no one can replicate that,” Kaneria said.

“You can speak about ABD, Chris Gayle but even these two look pale infront of Surya. He has already eclipsed them and has taken T20 cricket to a whole new level,” he added.

With this win, India has maintained their 100 percent series win record against its Asian neighbors across formats.
