Even though Pakistan has lost the games against India and Zimbabwe on the last ball, their batting hasn’t been convincing at all. In these games, most batters have looked out of sorts barring a few. The likes of Shan Masood, Iftikhar Ahmed, and vice-captain Shadab Khan have done well with the bat in either of the games. Also, the most worrisome part from the team’s perspective is the failure of skipper Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has urged the current lot of players to learn from the likes of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav. The former opening batter pointed out Kohli and Yadav’s batting against the Netherlands. Butt said that the duo rotated the strike well and were pre-empting the bowling.

“Look at the shots of Virat and Suryakumar. Those were proper cricketing shots. They were playing with the field by rotating strikes and finding the gaps once the fielders were up in the circle. They were pre-empting the deliveries and setting the field for themselves,” Salman said on his YouTube channel.

Virat Kohli batted sensibly while batting with Rohit Sharma: Salman Butt

The Lahore player added by praising Kohli’s batting while Rohit Sharma was at the crease against the Netherlands. Butt pointed out that if one batter is taking risks, it is important for the batter at the end to play second fiddle.

“When one player is taking the risks, the other one, if he is sensible plays second fiddle. They are actually the top two batters in the world. But, Virat batted sensibly without thinking that I won the previous match and I’m the number one batter. As long as Rohit Sharma kept going, he batter with ease. He picked up the pace for some time, but changed the gear again once Suryakumar Yadav came out,” said the former Pakistani cricketer.

Notably, Virat Kohli is yet to be dismissed in the ongoing 20-20 World Cup 2022.
