Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh doesn’t seem to be happy with the on-field between Royal Challengers Bangalore batter Virat Kohli and Lucknow Super Giants mentor Gautam Gambhir after their RCB defeated LSG by 18 runs in match number 43 of IPL 2023 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

It all started during the 17th over of LSG’s innings when Kohli was involved in a verbal spat with Naveen-ul-Haq, who was batting at that time. Kohli even showed his shoes before pointing at Naveen. When the players from both teams were shaking hands after the match ended, Kohli and Naveen once again had a heated exchange.

A few moments after, Kohli got involved in a heated exchange of words with Gambhir. All the players from both teams were gathered there to separate them and resolve the issue. Harbhajan shared his thoughts on the incidents and advised Kohli not to indulge in a fight with anyone as he is a big player. He also added that both Gambhir and Kohli are like idols for young kids and they have a responsibility to be the ‘ambassadors’ of the game.

“Virat, you are a big player, there is no need for you to get in a fight with anyone, what is the need for all this?” said the former Indian spinner on his Youtube Channel.

“Kids watch you guys play and it is our responsibility being ambassadors of the game that we impart the right image to the younger generation. I hope that my two brothers will hug it out and bury the hatchet. That will be a very positive message for everyone,” he further added.

‘I am ashamed of what I did with Sreesanth’ – Harbhajan

Harbhajan also recalled an incident during the inaugural season of IPL where he slapped S. Sreesanth during a match. After Kohli’s spat with Gambhir, Harbhajan took his social media to confess that he still regretted the incident and that players like Kohli and Gambhir should not get involved in such things as it is not good for cricket.

“I am ashamed of what I did with Sreesanth in 2008. Virat Kohli is a legend, should not get involved in such things. Whatever happened between Virat and Gambhir was not right for cricket,” Harbhajan wrote on Twitter.
