‘He forced the world to talk about him’ – Kapil Dev’s stunning words on Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav, India’s most impactful player at the moment, failed to make it big in the Pakistan battle on October 23, Sunday in the 20-20 World Cup. He scored just 15 runs off 10 balls before Haris Rauf got the better of him. However, Yadav’s short innings was no short of entertainment as the batter pulled off a couple of unorthodox shots early in the innings and also got off to a mark with a boundary of the very first ball that he faced.

Kapil Dev, who was impressed with the batter, said that the current Indian team without Suryakumar is ‘unthinkable’. Further, the former Indian World Cup-winning skipper said that the batter had worked hard and that no one thought earlier that he could be the impactful player he is at present.

We can’t think about India without him: Kapil

Kapil, who emphasized the right-handed batter’s ability to hit all over the ground, said that the Indian team with the likes of Suryakumar, Virat Kohli, and Rohit Sharma looks strong automatically.

“In fact, no one ever thought about Yadav being an impact player in the future, but he did great with his batting and forced the world to talk about him. Now, we can’t think about India without him. Having a batter like Suryakumar in the team in the company of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, a team automatically becomes strong,” Kapil was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

India, after pulling off a stunner against Pakistan on the back of Kohli’s unbeaten 82, will lock horns against the Netherlands on Thursday in Sydney. Suryakumar, who is in tremendous form at the moment, would look to make up for his shortfall in the previous inning and contribute with the bat for the Rohit-led team.

India would look to carry on with the momentum and the match against South Africa on October 30 would be a crucial one as a win there could take the Men in Blue closer to the next stage of the showpiece event.
