India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin shone with the bat on Day Two of the ongoing first Test against Bangladesh. He scored 58 and ensured the visitors got 404 after batting for 133.5 overs. Talking further about Ashwin’s batting, he displayed immense patience and guided the team through after India had lost the wicket of Shreyas Iyer early in the day. The right-arm off-spinner batted for 113 balls and hit two sixes and as many fours.

Meanwhile, when he decided to step out and score some quick runs, he was beaten by the lack of bounce and got out stumped. At this stage, the KL Rahul-led side had amassed 385 runs. Notably, before getting stumped, he saw Nurul Hasan, the opposition wicketkeeper batter, not removing the bails. At the time, the two-time World Championship winner decided to make it back to the crease but to no avail.

While some fans would say it was entertaining, the other haven’t found it entertaining at all. Apparently, some feel that this ‘kind of stunt’ was unnecessary and might have proved costly in the end.

Bangladesh in real trouble at stumps on Day Two

Meanwhile, talking about the game, India started Day Two on 278/6, with Ravichandran Ashwin and Shreyas Iyer batting. The latter got a massive reprieve as he was dropped by Nurul Hasan early in the day. However, he failed to score his second Test ton as he was cleaned up by Ebadot Hussain on 86. On the other hand, thanks to Ashwin’s batting, Kuldeep Yadav’s 40, and a cameo from Umesh Yadav (15), the team reached 404 all-out.

In reply, Bangladesh lost eight wickets and managed only 131 runs before the stumps on the second day of the game. Talking about India’s bowling, Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets while Mohammed Siraj took three and Umesh Yadav took one. Notably, Ashwin has gone wicketless so far.
