After having a great Indian T20 League for his Bangalore franchise, this veteran wicketkeeper got a comeback call for India. However, since his return, has played some good knocks for his country also. Hence, he was expecting to play that finisher role for India. On the other hand, Hooda has been playing for India in T20Is recently.

But, he batted mainly in the top-three slots. However, in the Asia Cup 2022, India chose Karthik over Pant in the first two matches. In one match, he scored 1* run off one ball. While in the other match, he did not get any chance to bat. In the next two matches, India did not consider him and chose Deepak Hooda to play as a finisher. But, he scored only 19 runs in two matches, at an average of 9.5.
