‘I’m glad we have the letters MAHI in Mahi-ndra!’: Anand Mahindra after MS Dhoni’s stellar show against Mumbai

The rivalry between Mumbai and Chennai is the biggest in the Indian T20 League 2022. The fans await and expect a high-voltage match whenever the two teams meet. They gifted their fans with a last-ball thriller in their last meeting in the 33rd match of the Indian T20 League 2022.
Mumbai batted first in the match as Chennai won the toss and put them in. Mumbai on the back of some lower-order batting heroics by Tilak Varma and Jaydev Unadkat reached a total of 155 runs in their 20 overs. The responsibility was on the bowlers of the team to defend the total and register their first win for the tournament. Mumbai had a great start to their defense picking up Ruturaj Gaikwad in the first ball of the innings. The men in blue kept striking at regular intervals and were putting the match in their pockets.
But MS Dhoni had other ideas about the result of the game. He took Dwaine Pretorius with him and took the match till the last over. Chennai needed 17 runs off the last over, and the going got tougher as Jaydev Unadkat dismissed Pretorius of the first ball. After a single off the second delivery, MS Dhoni came into the strike and the equation was 16 runs off the last four balls.
The veteran Indian batter tonked a straight six of the next delivery over long-off and followed it up with a four. The next ball was flicked to the deep square leg region as he picked up a quick couple of runs from it. With four runs required off the last ball, MSD placed an under cut perfectly to the boundary ropes in the fine-leg region. With this, he pulled off an unreal victory for his team.
While the fans were mighty impressed by MSD’s exploits and expressed their joy on social media, some famous personalities also hailed the former Chennai skipper. One of them was Anand Mahindra, the chairperson of Mahindra and Mahindra. He took to Twitter to express his awe for Dhoni’s brilliant finish and wrote- “Well, all I can say is that I’m glad we have the letters MAHI in Mahi-ndra! #MSDhoni Awesome finish.”
