PV Sindhu is known as a double Olympic medallist who has always looked to make proud India on big stages. After winning all the group and knockout matches, Sindhu was scheduled to face China’s Wang Zhi Yi on 17 July 2022, Sunday at the Singapore Open Super 500 trophy.

This match was tipped to be a hard-fought batter for Sindu as this Chinese badminton player is the reigning Asian Championships gold medallist. As expected, Sindhu fought hard as she defeated Wang Zhi at a scoreline of 21-9, 11-21, and 21-15. This win helped her to win his maiden Singapore Open title. It was a high voltage clash as players from India and China clashed in that final.

Speaking of the match, Sindhu won the first game in a dominating manner while Wang Zhi looked completely clueless. However, in the second game, Wang Zhi made a comeback as she blew away the Indian shuttler. Now, the game went to a decider set where PV Sindhu made a beautiful comeback to win this title for the first time. Earlier, Sindhu had defeated Saena Kawakami of Japan 21-15, 21-7 in a 32-minute semi-final match to enter the summit clash.

In 2022, this became Sindhu’s third title after winning the Syed Modi International and Swiss Open BWF Super 300 titles. This title win can boost PV Sidhu before kicking off the Commonwealth Games for India, later this month. After making India proud one more time, her fans and other celebrities shared their love and congratulations on Twitter. The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi wrote: “I congratulate P V Sindhu on winning her first ever Singapore Open title. She has yet again demonstrated her exceptional sporting talent and achieved success. It is a proud moment for the country and will also give inspiration to upcoming players.” After this title-winning tournament, Sindhu will look to bring more glory under her belt in the next Commonwealth Games
