On December 7, India played a must-win, second ODI of the three-match series against Bangladesh. After losing the first game by one wicket, the Men In Blue needed to win to remain alive in the series. Notably, they started well after six wickets for 61 runs. At this point, it looked like an easy win for the Indians. However, the likes of Mehidy Hasan Miraj and Mahmudullah took the team to 271/7.

In reply, despite the heroics of injured Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, and Axar Patel, the team lost the game by five runs. After the game, former Pakistan leggie Danish Kaneria bashed the Indian bowling. He started by saying that the performance of the bowlers was third-class. He added that Mohammed Siraj has aggression but lacks discipline.

“Bangladesh bowlers bowled exceptionally while India’s bowling was third class. It’s harsh but you have to see where Indian cricket is heading towards. The conditions were similar to those back home but Indian bowlers were getting exposed. The Indian bowling were bowling short-pitched deliveries, no one targetted the body or the yorker’s. Siraj leaked a lot of runs. He has aggression but his bowling was a bit wayward,” Kaneria said in a video uploaded on his YouTube channel.

This is India’s second successive ODI series defeat to Bangladesh

Notably, this is India’s second successive ODI series defeat against Bangladesh. The last time both teams played an ODI series was in Bangladesh in June 2015. At that time, Mustafizur Rahman troubled the Indian batters with a six-wicket haul and a five-wicket haul. India lost the first two games of the series and lost the series by 2-1, winning the last game. Seven years later, India have managed to lose the first two games and is staring down a clean sweep.
