 Indian Cricket Board To Announce India Squad For ODIs Against South Africa On This Date – Reports

After winning the three-match T20I series at home against Australia, team India will now face South Africa. It will be another three-match T20I series at home which will kick off on 28 September 2022. Following this series, India will also play a three-match ODI series with the Proteas. Several reports were there that the upcoming 20-20 World Cup-bound players might not be a part of that ODI series.

Now, reports are there that the Indian selectors are going to announce the squad for that ODI series on 28 September 2022. Currently, India A are playing a three-match ODI series against New Zealand A in Chennai. So, after the completion of their last game on 27 September, the Indian Cricket Board will announce the final squad.

“Rohit, Virat, and all T20 World Cup-bound players will be rested from the ODI series.” – a senior member of the Indian Cricket Board

While speaking to InsideSport, one senior member of the Indian Cricket Board said that 20-20 World Cup-bound players will be rested. So, Shikhar Dhawan will lead the side. While Sanju Samson can be his deputy for that series.

The member said: “Rohit, Virat, and all 20-20 World Cup-bound players will be rested from the ODI series. Shikhar will lead the side. The squad will be announced after the third ONE DAY between India-A vs NewZealand-A.” Speaking about the ongoing series, India A already bagged the series over the Kiwis before the last match on 27 September. Sanju Samson got the opportunity to lead that team and he managed to win the series. 

Speaking about team India, they reached Thiruvananthapuram on 27 September 2022. But, several Indian players were surprised to see the craze of Sanju Samson after reaching there. Outside of the team bus, fans were chanting Sanju’s name. Even, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal shared Instagram stories by tagging the Indian wicketkeeper. Sanju Samson’s fans are not happy as he missed a place in the final squad for this upcoming series and the 20-20 World Cup also.
