Bangalore will face Chennai in the 49th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. This will be the second time the two teams face each other in the 15th edition of the tournament. In the last encounter, Chennai won the contest by a margin of 23 runs outplaying the opposition in all the departments.

Team News:

Bangalore: After a decent start to the tournament, Bangalore lost their momentum and have lost three consecutive matches. Despite a defeat in their last match against Gujarat, the biggest positive for the team is Virat Kohli returning to form. Although not a trademark Kohli knock, but ‘The King’ returning to runs is something the team will expect to continue.

Probable XI: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (C) (O), Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell (O), Dinesh Karthik (WK), Shabaz Ahmed, Mahipal Lomror, Wanindu Hasaranaga (O), Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood.

Key Players:

Virat Kohli: Virat Kohli has been out of touch throughout the tournament. But in the last match against Gujarat, he scored 58 runs from 53 balls. Although it was not a knock that fans expect from him, he returned amongst runs, which is great news for Bangalore.

Glenn Maxwell: Maxwell has not yet found the middle of the bat in the tournament so far. But the team will hope that he regains his form for the Indian T20 League 2021.

Dinesh Karthik: Dinesh Karthik was responsible for the wins Bangalore achieved this season while chasing. He has lost his golden touch in the last few matches and his team will hope that his form returns soon.

Chennai: The biggest news from the yellow camp is the return of MS Dhoni as the captain of the team. In the last match, Chennai seemed a completely different team under ‘Captain Cool’. With the opening pair performing brilliantly the men in yellow won their last match against Hyderabad by 13 runs.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Devon Conway (O), Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (C)(WK), Ravindra Jadeja, Mitchell Santner (O), Dwaine Pretorius (O), Simarjeet Singh, Mukesh Choudhary, M Theekshana (O).

Key Players:

Ruturaj Gaikwad: Gaikwad played a brilliant knock of 99 runs from 57 deliveries in the match against Hyderabad. He was involved in an epic opening partnership of 182 runs with Devon Conway, that helped Chennai win the match. Chennai will hope that he continues with the form that he has found.

Devon Conway: Conway scored 85 runs from 55 balls against Hyderabad. He was Ruturaj’s partner in their brilliant opening stand. The men in yellow will hope to get a formidable and strong start from him.

Mukesh Choudhary: The young left-arm pacer is bowling in a great rhythm and picking up wickets for Chennai in the powerplays. The team will rest their hopes on Choudhary to give them important wickets at the beginning.

Pitch Report: The MCA Stadium in Pune presented a great batting strip in the last match played at the venue. A total of 391 runs were scored in the match between Chennai and Hyderabad. With a pitch favoring the batters another high-scoring contest is on the cards.

Head-to-Head: Chennai has historically dominated the clash against Bangalore. The two teams have played 29 matches against each other. 19 of these matches have been won by Chennai while Bangalore have managed only 9 wins and one match has gone by without any result.
