India are currently playing against Bangladesh in the first match of the three-match ODI series. After winning the toss Bangladesh skipper Litton Das won the toss and invited India to put runs on the scoreboard. India Captain Rohit Sharma who was rested for the New Zealand tour is back against the Bangla tigers. He started the Indian innings with left-hander Shikhar Dhawan to give an aggressive start to the team.

However, the openers couldn’t perform deliver much for the team, as Dhawan was bowled by Mehidy Hasan as India lost their first wicket on 23 after 5.1 overs. It was a good opportunity to score for Rohit and Virat Kohli, who was also rested for the New Zealand tour but allrounder Shakib-al-Hasan came in between and dismiss both players in his first over.

Shakib came to bowl the 11th over of the innings and bowled Rohit on the second ball of the over. The celebrations were not even ended completely for the Bangladeshi team and Shakib got another wicket on his fourth ball of the same over, this time, it was Virat who was brilliantly caught by Bangladesh captain Litton Das.

Virat has to wait more for his 44th ODI century

Virat is simply unable to get past the three-figure mark in ODI cricket in spite of getting agonizingly close on numerous occasions. His last ODI century came when he was playing against West Indies in August 2019.

Virat Kohli has had a bad year with the bat in 2022 in ODIs as he’s just managed to score 184 runs in nine innings at an average of 20.44 and a strike rate of 73.60 with two half-centuries to his name. He will be aiming to utilize his T20 form in ODI too as the team is preparing for the 50-over World Cup next year and it can very beneficial for the team to win the major tournament.
