After losing the fifth rescheduled Test match against England, the Indian selectors announced the squad for the WI ODIs on 6 July 2022. This series is going to happen from 22 July 2022 as India will travel to the Caribbean. Both the teams will play three ODIs and five T20Is in that limited over series.

However, regarding the selection of this squad, former Indian player, Irfan Pathan did not like it as star players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Jasprit Bumrah have been given rest for this tour. He came up with a tweet on his Twitter account where he indirectly attacked the India batter, Virat Kohli. He wrote: “No one comes back to form while resting…”

Here is the shared tweet:

Virat Kohli scored his last century in 2019 across all three formats

Speaking about this tweet, it is obvious that he took a dig on Virat Kohli as he had been going through a rough patch with the bat since 2019. The recently concluded England Test series was not an exception also as he managed only two half-centuries. In that series, he scored 249 runs in nine innings at an average of 27.66.

Hence, the decision of the Indian selectors of giving a rest to Virat Kohli did not go well with Pathan as he came up with such a cheeky tweet. He simply said that no player can make a comeback to form without playing matches.

Speaking about the announced squad, Shikhar Dhawan was named the captain while Ravindra Jadeja will be his deputy for this tour. Youngster Arshdeep Singh has been given another opportunity as India is going with a young pace unite of Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, and Arshdeep Singh.

Here is the full squad for three ODIs against West Indies:

Shikhar Dhawan (C), Ravindra Jadeja (VC), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Shubman Gill, Deepak Hooda, Suryakumar Yadav, Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Shardul Thakur, Yuzvendra Chahal, Axar Patel, Avesh Khan, Prasidh Krishna, Mohd Siraj, Arshdeep Singh.
