Pakistan is currently busy playing the seven-match T20I series against England at home. However, they lost the first match of the series on 20 September 2022. After losing in the Asia Cup final, Pakistan were looking to do well in this series ahead of the 20-20 World Cup. Meanwhile, despite the team’s loss, Rizwan scored 68 runs off 46 balls in that match.

Pakistan have already announced their squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup. Before that, there were rumours that former skipper and wicket-keeper Sarfaraz Ahmed could make a comeback. But, Sarfaraz did not get a call for the World Cup. Now, former Pakistan player, Sikander Bakht shared a bold claim over Mohammad Rizwan regarding Sarfaraz’s place in the team.

I won’t let Sarfaraz Ahmed return to the Pakistan team” – Mohammad Rizwan

While speaking on Pakistan’s television channel Geo Super, Sikander Bakht said that Rizwan has said to someone that he will not let Sarfaraz return to the Pakistan team. He said: “Sarfaraz will not play now. Our cricket community is quite small, so we get to know a lot of things. A cricketer who does programmes with us told us that Rizwan said, “main Sarfaraz ko kabhi aane nahi dunga (I won’t let Sarfaraz return to Pakistan team). That’s because when Sarfaraz was there, he didn’t let Rizwan play. So now it’s the opposite. This is what I have heard. I might be wrong.”

Speaking of Sarfaraz’s career, he last played for Pakistan in the T20I format in 2021 against Bangladesh. Since Rizwan’s arrival, he has been superb in this shortest format of the game. As of now, Sarfaraz has played 61 matches where he has scored 818 runs in 42 innings. On the other hand, Rizwan has played 63 T20I matches where he has scored 2011 runs in 52 innings.

Speaking about the first match of the series, Pakistan scored 158 runs in 20 overs for seven wickets. But, England managed to chase it down in 19.2 overs with six wickets to spare. Now, both teams will lock horns again on 22 September in Karachi.
