While the umpiring of international cricket has been under the scrutiny since the DRS, the domestic umpire get away sometimes. Even at this day and age, the domestic cricket across the globe has been a victim of poor umpire on occasions. It doesn’t mean that the umpiring level has been poor. The domestic level umpires have the challenge of giving decision sans a help from the technology.

Meanwhile, a poor umpiring incident has surfaced on social media. A video related to the ongoing Sheffield Shield season (Australia’s domestic tournament) is going viral. In the video, Victoria’s Will Pucowski was plumb lbw facing Western Australia’s Jhye Richardson. It was pretty clear that the batter was lbw. However, for some strange reason, the umpire ruled it not out.

Talking about the game, the Western Australia (WA) scored 466 at the end of the first innings. For the team, discarded Australia player, Cameron Bancroft scored a hundred. Apart from this, players such as skipper Sam Whiteman (82), Hilton Cartwright (70), and Teague Wyllie (42) laid a great platform for the team. The Sam Whiteman-led side might have scored more than 500 runs if not for the Victorian bowlers fighting back.

Todd Murphy took three wickets while the likes of Mitchell Perry and Ruwantha Kellopatha took two each. On the other hand, Matthew Short, Will Sutherland, and Cameron McClure took one wicket each. In reply, the Peter Handscomb-led Victoria has 124/1 at stumps on Day Two. Pucowski, who got a reprieve, scored 37 off 117 balls and was caught behind off Lance Morris. It will be interesting to see how things pan out of the Victorians. They are currently trailing by 342 runs with skipper Handscomb and Marcus Harris at the crease.
