In the second game of the ongoing SA20, Joburg Super Kings (JSK) and Durban Super Giants (DSG) locked horns to open their campaign. During the game, Kyle Verrynne pulled off MS Dhoni-style stumping. The incident happened during the 11th over of the Giants’ innings. Aaron Phangiso, who bowled the over, pitched the ball outside the off-stump after seeing Kyle Mayers making room to play on the off-side.

The West Indies player, Mayers missed the ball and lifted his back leg slightly. However, it was enough for Verrynne as he quickly removed the bails to end Mayer’s innings in a flash. This was the first wicket for the Kings as Mayers and Quinton de Kock stitched 98 runs for the first wicket.

Meanwhile, talking about the game the visitors, JSK won the toss and elected to bat first. The decision proved wrong initially as they lost four wickets for just 27 runs. Out of the first four victims, only Verrynne (10) could cross the double-digit mark. Skipper Faf du Plessis (39) and Donovan Ferreira stitched a partnership of 72 runs. However, this wasn’t enough as they were reduced further to 99/5 in 14 overs.

However, Ferreira and Romario Shepherd provided the finishing touches as the team scored 91 runs in the last six overs to reach 190/6. Donovan scored an unbeaten 84 off 40 while Romario got to 40 off 19. In reply, the DSG had a great start as skipper Quinton de Kock and Kyle Mayers stitched a partnership of 98 runs in 11 overs. However, the slow innings from Heinrich Klassen (20 off 21) and Wiaan Mulder (10 off nine0 pretty much killed the momentum of the innings.

Despite De Kock’s 78, the team lost the game by 16 runs as they were restricted to 174/5.
