Only less than a day at the start of the three-match T20 series between New Zealand and India. Both teams will lock horns at the Sky Stadium in Wellington on November 18. Meanwhile, ahead of the game, Kiwi skipper Kane Williamson has touched upon the biggest challenge for the team during the series. He said that Surykumar Yadav is the best T20I batter in the world.

Notably, according to the rankings, Yadav is the number one batter in the shortest format of the game. He became the best batter in the format during the Super 12 round of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Meanwhile, Williamson has said that the team will look forward to the challenge of bowling to him.

“He is the best T20 batter in the world, we certainly saw that throughout the World Cup. Incredibly special player. It’s a great challenge for all bowlers, not just the new ones, and they will be looking forward to that. That is the beauty of playing the international game, you come up against the best and he is very much that at the moment,” said Williamson on ESPNCricinfo.

Suryakumar Yadav was the top-run getter in the 20-20 World Cup 2022

Talking about the right-hander, he was the third-highest run-getter only behind his teammate Virat Kohli and Netherlands Maxwell O’Dowd. Yadav scored 239 runs in six games at an average of 59.75, a strike rate of 189.68 including three fifties. He would be looking to carry his form in the T20I series that will conclude on November 22. After the T20Is, both teams will play three-match ODI series starting on 25th and concluding on the 30th.

This will mark the start of India’s preparation for the 2023 ODI World Cup, to be played in India in October-November next year.
