On 18 August 2022, India took on the first match of the series against Zimbabwe. After winning the series in West Indies and England, India traveled to Zimbabwe for this three-match ODI series. However, senior players took a rest from this series. Hence, KL Rahul got the opportunity to lead the side.

However, a surprising incident took place when India came out to face Zimbabwe. Like every match, players from both camps came out to sing their respective National anthems. But, KL Rahul got involved in a surprising incident. He was having a Chewing Gum during the start of the National anthem. The video got viral and it got circulated over the internet.

KL Rahul was making a comeback to the Indian side after an injury setback

Speaking about the video, KL Rahul took out the Chewing Gum from his Mouth before National Anthem. However, fans loved this gesture from the Indian skipper and heaped praises for his actions.

Speaking of his form, KL Rahul has been making a comeback to the Indian team after a long gap. Injuries were the main reason for his exclusion so far. However, selectors did not choose him for this series earlier.

Then, he became fully fit ahead of the series and he got the chance on the tour. He also became the captain of this series. Ahead of the Asia  Cup and T20 World Cup, His form will be crucial for India. Selectors have also asked the Indian team management to take a close look at his fitness issues. “Rahul and Chahar are important cogs in the wheels of the Indian cricket team. We want them to be completely fit. We have requested Laxman to monitor them. Rahul has to join the squad for Asia Cup. Chahar is also on the radar. We just want them to stay completely fit.” One of the Board selectors said. However, he will be in action in these three ODIs followed by the Asia Cup.
