The Delhi franchise is all set to take on Gujarat in the upcoming match of the ongoing Indian T20 League at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Delhi will be looking to get their first win of the season after losing to Lucknow by a huge margin of 50 runs.

This time, Delhi will also get the support of Rishabh Pant, who will make his appearance at the stadium to cheer for his franchise. It is noted that Pant met with a horrifying car accident in December 2022 and went on to undergo ligament surgery. The 25-year-old has been ruled out of the ongoing season as he is in recovery mode. Australian batter David Warner was appointed as the skipper of Delhi in Pant’s absence.

‘I hope spectators will give him a clap…’ – DDCA Joint Secretary

It was confirmed yesterday by The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) Joint Secretary Rajan Manchanda that Pant will attend the game against Gujarat as a spectator.

“There’s good news for our spectators tomorrow. Despite his injury, Rishabh Pant is coming to support his team. He is a star of Delhi. I hope spectators will give him a clap that he is coming among his cricketers despite such an injury,” said Manchanda as quoted by IndiaToday.

“We are ready to host Rishabh Pant at the ground if he feels okay and Delhi Franchise allows it. We will take care of everything for him, be it picking him up from home or dropping him back. We will also create a special ramp till the dugout for his access,” said the DDCA director Shyam Sharma.

Delhi didn’t have a great start to the tournament so far as they lost to Lucknow by a big margin. Batting first at the Ekana Cricket stadium, Lucknow posted a total of 193 runs for the loss of 7 wickets, powered by the 73-run knock by Kyle Mayers of 38 balls. In reply, Delhi kept losing wickets at regular intervals from the start and could only reach to 143 for 9. Warner played a steady knock of 56 runs from 48 balls.
